Protests in tourist destination of Labuan Bajo

Tourist operators staged a protest in Labuan Bajo triggered by the government's plan to raise admission fee to enter the tourist destination.



Thegovernment plans to increase the ticket to visit Komodo Island, the main island to see directly Komodo life in nature, to Rp 3.7 million for every tourist so that tourists also contribute to the cost of nature preservation, especially for the sustainability of life Komodo itself.
The government to date is still sticking to the original plan, as it judged the move as the most appropriate.
Local tourist operators are against the plan.

What is the real issue of sustainability in this tourist destination? And what is the logic behind government's plan to raise the entrance fees to Rp 3.7 million?
