Dick Smith rules out One Nation tilt, supports immigration policy

Businessman Dick Smith says if Australia's population grows too much, whole generation will be out work, become angry and probably become terrorists.

Millionaire businessman Dick Smith has emphatically ruled out ever standing as a One Nation candidate.

Asked if he would stand for One Nation in the Sydney seat of Mackellar where he lives, Mr Smith said he would never stand for Pauline Hanson's party.

"I don't have similar views, other than when it comes to immigration. I support that greatly," he said on Sky News.

Mr Smith said One Nation was attracting growing support because voters were completely disappointed with the utter dishonesty of the major parties.

He said he disagreed with Senator Hanson's policy of halting Muslim immigration but backed her plans to cut overall immigration from 200,000 a year to 70,000.

"That's incredibly responsible because we shouldn't be bringing people here when we won't be able to give them a job," he said.

That would result in generations out of work.

"And then they wil become angry and they will probably become terrorists," he said.

Mr Smith said Australia was a wonderful place because it had a small population and it would be completely wrecked if it grew to 100 million or a billion people.
