Since 2018's historic 40th anniversary of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, there's rightly been a strong emphasis on the LGBTIQ+ community's long and challenging history. From interviews with original 78ers to the Mardi Gras' wonderful exhibition Museum of Love and Protest, younger members of the community have been encouraged to engage with retrospectives in a way they mightn't have previously.
