The banoffee-inspired Year of the Dog buns are almost too cute to eat. Almost.

The Lunar New Year is nearly upon us as the promise of lanterns, fireworks and festive food dangles ahead. The celebratory event in the Chinese calendar calls for a clean of the house, shopping for new clothes, and preparing dishes that carry extra meaning around good health and prosperity; you can usually bet on bowls spilling with noodles, whole fish and all of the dumplings.

Enter dumpling specialists Din Dai Fung; they’re ringing in the Year of the Dog with some limited edition, cute-as-heck dog-shaped buns.

From 8 February until 8 March, the dark chocolate and banana-filled dessert bao will be steamed-to-order; think of them as banoffee bao, if you will.

The dog-shaped buns are the perfect endnote to your banquet of the delicate, soupy, Shanghai-style dumplings that Din Tai Fung are famous for.
And to sweeten the deal further, they'll be donating $1 from every dog-shaped bun sold to children's mental health charity Be Centre, who provide play therapy for kids aged 3-12 years.

The doggy bao will be available across all 10 Din Tai Fung restaurants and café courts.
