Lunar New Year celebrations kick off on Saturday January 28, and delicious delicacies and feasts from around the world are already filling social feeds and bellies.

Those who look to the lunar calendar will be celebrating the Year of the Rooster, so poultry-themed foods are on the agenda.

From China to Vietnam, Indonesia to Malaysia, and right here in Australia, communities from different cultures will come together to celebrate a new lunar year.

If you live in Melbourne or Sydney, these fantastically colourful Chinese New Year Rooster Bao will be available at Din Tai Fung for a limited time - and they’re filled with blueberry cream cheese!

They aren't the only place releasing a special for New Year - The Kit Kat Chocolatory in Melbourne have launched a limited-edition range, including a red bean and toasted coconut flavour, available only until February 4.

Social media is already filled with incredible rooster-themed and traditional creations in the lead-up to the big weekend.

Sweet treats are on the menu, with tarts, macaroons and cookies leading the charge.

Melbourne-based Instagram baker Raymond made these gorgeous creations as a nod to Chinese New Year.
These adorable baby rooster macaroons are almost too much to handle!
Krispy Kreme in Thailand has gone all out to theme their donuts for Year of the Rooster.
Bread is getting in on the act too.
And delicately decorated cookies that look too intricate to eat.
Even ice-cream is feeling the Lunar New Year love.
