This easy after-dinner Italian delight needs only two ingredients. Use whatever ice-cream flavour you like best with the coffee.

Ingredients

  • 2 scoops gelato or ice cream, such as vanilla bean, chocolate or coffee flavoured
  • 2 shots espresso or ½ cup strong black coffee
  • Freshly grated nutmeg, optional

Instructions

  1. Set out two glasses and place a scoop of ice cream in each. Pour over the hot espresso or black coffee and top with a grating of fresh nutmeg, if desired.
  2. Serve immediately with small spoons.

Cook's Notes

Oven temperatures are for conventional; if using fan-forced (convection), reduce the temperature by 20˚C. | We use Australian tablespoons and cups: 1 teaspoon equals 5 ml; 1 tablespoon equals 20 ml; 1 cup equals 250 ml. | All herbs are fresh (unless specified) and cups are lightly packed. | All vegetables are medium size and peeled, unless specified. | All eggs are 55-60 g, unless specified.
