Australian Egyptian Youth Forum is organising the event on the 4th of August.

A group of Arab-Australian writers, poets and singers will ‘remotely’ get together to take part in an event dedicated to providing a platform to talents of Egyptian and ethnic backgrounds.

President of the forum, writer and journalist, Daniel Nour, believes many talented young people in the community, are at the risk of drifting away from their original culture to ‘fit in’ a scene that’s been long portrayed as a ‘white exclusive club’.

The Egyptian youth forum is affiliated with the Australian Egyptian Forum Council, which pushes towards increasing visibility of the Egyptian community in Australia.
To know where we are going, we should know where we come from
Daniel is determined to normalise new, unique careers in the arts sphere, to make it easier for migrant families to comprehend the potential of letting their kids follow their passion.

"There are a lot of reasons why second and third generation youth, refrain from taking bold steps of trying something new like singing. Arabic culture encourages youth to take up traditional occupations like medicine or engineering." Daniel explains.

Daniel also believes mainstream media should provide more opportunities to those of ethnic backgrounds to reflect the true colours of multicultural Australia.
