SBS Arabic24's correspondent in Baghdad says there were some renewed calls from protesters to give the southern province of Basra more control over its own affairs by being made a region.

The protesters, though small in numbers, took the streets in Basra demanding self-governed region similar to the Kurdistan region in northern Iraq.

More is in the report of SBS Arabic24's Baghdad correspondent Ashraf Alazzawi.
