Aussie slang may not only confuse new arrivals to the country but also people who speak English as their first language.

Australians tend to abbreviate the simplest of words, and so Aussie slang is born.

For example, a service station is abbreviated to a "servo"; a mosquito is a "mozzie"; an umbrella is a "brolly".

Test your knowledge of some of the more known (and lesser-known) Aussie slang words and phrases by trying our quiz.
