Durga Puja is the largest religious event of Bengali Hindu community. The event is being celebrated by the Bangla speaking community of Australia. Krishna Chakraborty, whose family has been organizing Durga Puja every year in Melbourne, spoke to SBS Bangla about the experience of celebrating Durga Puja.


Krishna Chakraborty's family has been conducting Durga puja in their home for the past five years in Bacchus Marsh, west of Melbourne, Australia.

She said that the Durga Puja idol has been brought from India.

This celebration will last for five days.

Krishna Chakraborty said, "The priest (Purohit) has come from Bangladesh and all are performing this puja, according to the Puja rules.
