Australian Chinese scientist won David and Valerie Solomon Award by promoting his advanced gas processing technology to the world

Dr Gang (Kevin) Li' company Gas Capture Technologies Pty Ltd has scaled up his advanced gas processing technology from grams to tonnes, placing Australia as a global leader in the field.


Dr Gang (Kevin) Li,the Research Theme Leader of ARC ITTC (Australian Centre for LNG Futures),senior lecturer of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Melbourne, has won the David and Valerie Solomon Award of 2020.

Kevin invented a new technique to capture the greenhouse gas methane and reduce emissions from coal mines and natural gas production.

His ionic liquid zeolites have advanced gas separation technologies.

The Australian government's Global Innovation Linkage Grant funding has allowed Dr Li to develop the technology to be commercialized. After the government proposed to establish a startup company based on this technology, school and individuals established a company to commercialise his research and promote Australian technology internationally.

His company, Gas Capture Technologies Pty Ltd has scaled up the technology from grams to tonnes, placing Australia as a global leader in gas processing technology.
