The study used the following data points to determine the top brunch cities in the world:
- Search volume figures and trends for brunch related terms in the selected countries
- Search volume figures and trends for the term ‘best brunch in [city]’
- Number of places serving brunch compared to other meal types
- Tripadvisor reviews and ratings of the above places
Based on the study's findings, each city was given a score out of 100.
According to the findings, Melbourne is the brunch capital of Australia, with 24.24% of restaurants serving it and getting an average of TripAdvisor rating of 4.15. The reviews showed that 47.78% are ‘excellent’, and only 4.36% are ‘terrible’.
The study scored Melbourne with 54.6/100.
Melbourne is also 11th in world rankings.
The second best Australian city for brunch is Sydney, with 25.26% of restaurants serving it and getting an average of 4.11 on TripAdvisor. The reviews showed that 43.7% ‘excellent’, and 6.4% are ‘terrible’.
