Volunteering provides a real form of experience that up to 85% of employers view as credible as paid work, 92% of employers view as an advantage in an interview, and all while providing an avenue of development for youth’s interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Key Points
  • This year, August 7-13 is National Student Volunteer Week in Australia.
  • Student Advocates around the country are encouraging fellow students to attend events on campus to try volunteering opportunities that suit them.
  • One study suggests that three-quarters (75%) of hiring managers agree having volunteering experience is an advantage in a job interview.
