Australia's superannuation and pension system - the envy of the world ("So if it ain't broke, why fix it?")

Australia's much-admired old-age provision system has three pillars. It's the third pillar (super) which the Government now wants to reform (again).

And since you've asked, the three pillars are:

1. Private contributions to superannuation funds and non-super investments. 2. A safety net consisting of a means-tested government-funded age pension. 3. Compulsory employer contributions to superannuation.
