The Indonesian island of Flores was once home to a separate human species, which was significantly smaller than modern homo sapiens. Researchers have been puzzling over the origins of these “hobbits” ever since the first fossils came to light over 20 years ago. Now, a newly found bone, which is also tiny, provides fresh insights.
