A Greek researcher works on a super-vaccine for the influenza virus

Born in Greece with origin from Cyprus, the PhD candidate, Marios Koutsakos, is a member of the research team of the Doherty Institute of Melbourne, which promises to save thousands of lives every year.


Australian researchers at this Institute are close to creating a super-vaccine for the influenza virus.

University of Melbourne PhD candidate Marios Koutsakos of the Doherty Institute carried out much of the experimental work with colleagues in Professor Kedzierska’s laboratory and Professor Anthony Purcell from the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute.

Marios Koutsakos, spoke to the SBS Greek Language Program, about the revolution against the influenza virus, this super-vaccine.
