The incidents of Friday in Pyla, in which members of the occupation regime attacked UNFICYP peacekeepers, will be discussed today in a closed session of the United Nations Security Council. At the same time, Turkish government officials say they are determined to proceed with the works in the buffer zone under UN jurisdiction.

Three members of the UN peacekeeping force were injured and are being treated in Cyprus after being attacked in the buffer zone near Pyla by Turkish Cypriot groups.

Members of UNFICYP were in the area to block the extension of the Pyla - Arsos road within the buffer zone.

The United Nations Security Council will discuss Friday's incidents in a closed session this evening, Cyprus time.
