The last case occurred in Boven Digul which caused a farmer to die.

On May 16, 2020, there was a dispute between the security guard of an oil palm company which turned out to be a member of the Indonesian Police, Police Brigadier Melkianus Yowei (MY) and a native Papuan civilian named Marius Betera (MB) until he was seriously injured and later died.

The incident of violence against MB began when he came to the office of PT TSE POP A to ask questions and clarify about cleaning bananas in a plot allegedly carried out by PT TSE POP A.

Father Anselmus Amo MSC, Director of the Merauke Archdiocese's Justice and Peace Secretariat, will discuss this issue in the following interview.
