Supermarket grocery prices rise accompanied by rising number of thefts

Annual food price analysis confirmed rising prices of staple food products in supermarkets had added to the wider public's cost-of-living pressures.


It's no secret that cost-of-living pressures have been eating away at family budgets.

Deakin University's annual food price analysis has confirmed some of that pressure is coming from grocery stores.

In the last 12 months to July 2023, some products rose by 40 per cent. The

Anti-Poverty Center is one of the advocacy groups and groups calling for increased welfare payments, thus matching the Henderson Poverty Line, which currently amounts to $1,129.79 per week for a family of two adults and two children.
