Indonesian musician, composer and producer Indra Lesmana admitted that he was lucky to be born in a family that is so passionate in music, not only a musician but also a community advocate
“I think that's what shaped me more,” Indra Lesmana told SBS Indonesian.
“How Jack and Nien Lesmana opened their home 24 hours to young musicians, anyone, regardless of their genres, to rehearse, exchange thoughts, or learn.”
Indra also shared about how his father Jack Lesmana had a close relation to Australian musicians that he held weekly jam sessions in an Australian Cultural Centre in Jakarta back in the 70s.
Even so, making music was not the only aspiration for young Indra Lesmana. He claimed to have a great interest in soccer.

When being asked about the importance of the number of downloads or album purchases for a musician, Indra said that the thought of being commercially successful in the music industry can be a “dangerous” thing for musicians.
“I think we should always maintain the purity of a work,” Indra said.
"The purer a work is, I believe it can get closer to the people."
