Currently, the role of indigenous peoples has come to the fore again, including in politics, when Papua is about to be divided from 2 to 7 provinces,

Politicians have agreed with the pemekaran, but indigenous peoples have rejected the expansion of the territory.

One of the reasons is because they are worried that the expansion will bring in more people from outside Papua, and then play a bigger role in everyday life, such as in the political and economic sectors.

The Coordinator of the Papuan Community Observing Indonesian State Administration, Marten Goo, will explore the position of the indigenous Papuan people, in the midst of the political system and the decisions of the central government which are currently being polemic.
