Data suggests that more than 900.000 people have a second stream of income. But as tax time approaches, anyone with a side hustle has been put on notice.

A side hustle is a term used to describe a piece of work or a job that you get paid for doing, in addition to doing your main job.

Side hustles come in many forms from ride-share driving to personal training - some people even manage to monetise being a social media influencer.

In fact, figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics suggest more than 900-thousand people have a second stream of income.

But as tax time approaches, anyone with a side hustle has been put on notice.
