Ali Kalora, the leader of the East Indonesia Mujahidin terrorist group (MIT) and one of its members named Jaka Ramadhan, were shot and killed by members of the Madago Raya Task Force in Poso, Central Sulawesi, on September 18. Although it means a lot in efforts to eradicate acts of terrorism that have made the Poso region unsafe so far, the deaths of the two terrorists do not mean that the area will be peaceful and safe.
Preventing the growth of new followers in this group is as important as the crackdown itself.
Nurlaela Lamasitudju, Director of Solidarity for Victims of Human Rights Violations (SKP-HAM) in Poso, will describe the meaning of hunting terrorists, preventing new terrorists, and providing assistance to their families so that they are no longer attracted to the movement, through programs developed with the government.
