After a controversy about the film's classification that left the movie shut out of the best picture honours, writer-director Lee Isaac Chung’s ‘Minari’ wins the award for Best Motion Picture, Foreign Language at the Golden Globes.

"Minari is about a family. It's a family trying to learn how to speak a language of its own," said director Lee Isaac Chungs during his acceptance speech.

“It goes deeper than any American language and any foreign language. It’s a language of the heart. I’m trying to learn it myself and to pass it on, and I hope we’ll all learn to speak this language of love to each other — especially this year.”
Minari is based on Chung’s own childhood and stars Steven Yeun, Yeri Han, Will Patton, Korean actress Yuh-Jung Youn, Alan Kim and Noel Cho.

In this movie, a Korean American family moves to an Arkansas farm in search of its own American dream. Amidst the challenges of this new life in the strange and rugged Ozarks, they discover the undeniable resilience of family and what really makes a home.

'Nomadland' and 'Borat Subsequent Moviefilm' are among the movies to take top honours at the 78th Golden Globe Awards. 'Nomadland' also took the best director prize for Chinese-born Chloe Zhao, making her the first woman of Asian decent to win in the category.
