Overseas voting for South Korea's 21st general election in Australia has wrapped with unprecedented turn-out amid COVID-19 calamity. South Korean Consul-General in Sydney Mr Sang-woo Hong has thanked all Korean nationals in Australia who took part in the voting.

Korean citizens in Australia were able to cast their ballots at polling stations despite huge challenges due to the coronavirus pandemic.

South Korea’s National Election Commission had to shut down voting for overseas citizens, which took place from April 1 to 6, at 91 diplomatic missions in 55 countries due to COVID-19, resulting in more than half of those eligible unable to cast their votes.

SBS Radio Korean Program conducted an interview with Mr Sangwoo Hong, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Sydney, about the overseas voting held in Australia.
