Sue Sujin Seo, Korean writer based in Sydney won the prominent Hankyoreh Literature Award in South Korea for her novel set in a university's Korean Language Institute. She said, “It felt like meeting light at the end of a dark tunnel” when she heard the news of award during the COVID19 lockdown period.


The novel is the story of four female instructors working in the Korean Language Institute at a Korean university.

The author Sue Sujin Seo wrote the book based on her own experience as a Korean teacher. She expects her next novel is going to be a story of Koreans struggling in Australia.
