Covid-19 increases frequency and severity of domestic violence

The coronavirus lockdown has caused an increase in both the frequency and severity of domestic violence in Australia. That according to new research by Monash University, which details how perpetrators have weaponised the global health crisis to further control and abuse women. In 2019, the United Nations declared 'home’ as the most dangerous place for women and children. The pandemic, has highlighted just how precarious such an environment can be. With much of the world largely confined to their homes, there has been global surge in domestic violence.
