The most difficult in her professional career was the time when she could help so many other patients, but could not perform surgery on her own mother, dr Susan Velovski, surgeon with special interest in the care of patients with bowel, colorectoral, breast and skin conditions and thyroid and parathyroid disease, tells SBS Macedonian. Dr. Susan, or as many in the community call her Dr. Sue, despite her busy schedule, finds time for noble work, such as training young doctors in Australia and abroad, most often in East Timor and Papua New Guinea.

'You can have all the wealth of the world, but if you don't have health, you have nothing. If you have poor health but good friends and family, you are blessed, because I see many patients in hospital who don't have that and when I worked in Melbourne, I had some patients who would get angry that their Macedonian family would all come. But, that is a gift we should treasure. And life is too short, so we need to protect and preserve...and live it how you want it...because that's important', dr Susan Velovski
