Australia could soon have a new Pacific nation next door

Bougainvilleans in Queensland have been enrolling this week to vote in a referendum which could see their autonomous region separate from Papua New Guinea.


Australia could soon have a new country as a neighbour when the Papua New Guinea's autonomous region of Bougainville votes in an independence referendum later this year.
