The UN is calling for an immediate demilitarisation of Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. This follows the release of the inspection report, which identified damage to the site, and called for an end to fighting to prevent a catastrophic incident.

Australia's pharmacy sector has welcomed a federal government announcement that it will lower the cost of medications listed under the nation's Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme. Anthony Albanese says there will be "difficult decisions" to be made in Labor's upcoming October budget. The government has already flagged it is looking to rein in spending because of large levels of Commonwealth debt.

Climate change minister Chris Bowen has told the Futures Forum in Canberra he is confident a tax cut for electric vehicles will pass through the House of Representatives in the next fortnight.
