An Australian Defence Force member serving in Afghanistan has been admitted to hospital in Germany for a "non-combat related medical issue."

The ADF confirmed on Monday that a member was admitted to a specialist medical facility in Landstuhl, Germany.

The member reportedly raised allegations of bullying with senior command but received no support, 3AW is reporting.

It's understood the person is in a critical condition.

The ADF said it wouldn't release further information due to privacy and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

"The ADF is providing support to the member and the member's family," the ADF said in a statement on Monday night.

"This includes providing regular contact with the identified family members, and has offered counsellor support."
