The Hyperloop concept was put forward by Elon Musk in 2013 to create high-speed travel possible and to accelerate the concept SpaceX opened the design of pods up to innovators and university students.

In the second Hyperloop Pod Competition held in California, teams from the United States, Poland, the UK, Germany and Spain all competed in creating the top speed for a pod in a Hyperloop chamber.

Elon Musk shared a video of the winning pod from a group called WARR, from the Technical University of Munich, with the pod reaching mesmerising speeds of 324km/h.

The South African born businessman also used his wit when he tweeted to his 12 million followers explaining that passenger transport would be smoother in a longer tube.
Musk tweeted, “Btw, high accel only needed because tube is short. For passenger transport, this can be spread over 20+ miles, so no spilt drinks.”

Musk was the cofounder of Paypal, is owner of Tesla Motors and is the founder of Space Exploration Technologies Corporation.
