A young boy is fighting for life after one of his parents found him unresponsive inside a hot car in Melbourne.
The eight-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after being found inside the car on Maddox Road, Newport, south-west of Melbourne’s CBD.
Police said the child was found unresponsive and trapped inside the car.
The incident is not believed to be suspicious but it’s unclear how he came to be in the car.

Fire crews and paramedics assisted at the scene to get the boy out of the car.
"Circumstances surrounding the case are unclear and the child was taken to the Royal Children's Hospital in a critical condition," an Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said.
The temperature in Melbourne soared to about 32 degrees at 2.45pm, when emergency services were called about the incident.
The boy is currently in a critical condition.
Homicide detectives have been notified “as per protocol” and are assisting in the investigation, according to a Victoria police spokesman.
