Brazil to face Qatar, Honduras in June friendlies

SAO PAULO (Reuters) - Brazil will play Honduras and Qatar in friendly matches ahead of hosting this summer’s Copa America, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said on Friday.





The five times world champions will play Asian champions Qatar in Brasilia on June 5 and then take on Honduras in Porto Alegre four days later.

Brazil kick off their Copa America campaign against Bolivia in Sao Paulo on June 14.

All 10 South American teams plus invited guests Qatar and Japan will compete for the 2019 Copa America in five Brazilian cities between June 14 and July 7.

For Honduras, the match will serve as a warm up for the Gold Cup, the tournament played by the top 16 clubs in the CONCACAF region of North, Central American and Caribbean football.

Honduras kick off their Gold Cup campaign against Jamaica in Kingston on June 18.
