Football Federation Australia chief David Gallop has failed to expand on reasons for the shock sacking of Matildas coach Alen Stajcic.
Mr Gallop fronted a media conference on Monday after spending time earlier in the day meeting with players but maintained a confidentiality agreement prevented him from saying more.
He said a new coach was expected to be announced in the next two weeks and added that the playing group did not communicate to him a desire to have Stajcic reinstated.
"Obviously, I made it very clear that this was a decision based on a range of material," he said, adding that there were mixed views within the team on the decision to sack Stajcic.
"Of course, there is a curiosity about information. And I have reminded them about the confidentiality of the survey work that was done.
"I also reminded them that it was a misconception the decision on the head coach was based solely on surveys.
"It was based on a range of reasons and a range of information."
He said with the input from players on the new coach, a process will be revealed shortly on how the individual will be selected.
Mr Gallop said he is confident that there is no wrongful termination and that the sacking was done under the terms of the contract,
"This was a cumulative thing and a decision was taken to pay out with notice.
"In some areas of employment law where warnings are given for conduct - and different provisions for contract used this was not that situation."
