WORLD FINANCE UPDATE:

The Australian dollar has fallen as a risk-seeking continues in markets for the second day in a row.

At 0700 AEDT on Tuesday, the local unit was trading at 71.39 US cents, down from 71.65 Monday.

And the Australian share market looks set to open higher after solid gains in world stocks as China's central bank fixed the yuan at a much stronger rate and oil prices held on to recent gains, easing fears of global deflation.

At 0645 AEDT on Tuesday, the share price index was up 35 points at 4,820.

ELSEWHERE:

HAVANA - The Obama administration has approved the first US factory in Cuba in more than half a century, allowing an Alabama company to assemble up to 1000 small tractors a year for sale to the island's farmers.

BRUSSELS - European Union state aid regulators will examine a report by a group of EU lawmakers accusing Swedish furniture retailer IKEA of avoiding paying at least 1 billion euros ($A1.58 billion) in taxes over a six-year period.

LONDON - Miner Anglo American Plc's debt was downgraded further into "junk" territory by Moody's Investor Service, which cited a deterioration in commodities market conditions and doubts over how long it would take the company to reduce debt levels.

SINGAPORE - Boeing Co is confident its large pipeline of orders from Southeast Asian airlines will stay intact as the region's carriers are adapting to tough competition, a senior executive says.

NEW YORK - Rapper and fashion designer Kanye West, who says he is $US53 million ($A74.18 million) in debt, has asked Facebook Inc's chief Executive officer Mark Zuckerberg to invest $US1 billion into his "ideas".
