Hanson talking BS on Easter eggs: MP

MPs from both sides of federal politics have condemned Pauline Hanson's call to avoid halal Easter eggs.

Federal Liberal backbencher Tim Wilson says Pauline Hanson is talking "complete BS" trying to urge Australians not to buy halal Easter eggs.

The One Nation leader says products like those made by Cadbury are halal-certified.

It aligns with the party's stance that buying halal-certified products equates to "financially supporting the Islamisation of Australia".

"Pauline Hanson is talking complete BS," Mr Wilson told Sky News.

The former human rights commissioner said people can buy what chocolate they want for Easter based on the quality they like.

"It is becoming increasing hard to take Pauline Hanson seriously when she comes up with rubbish policies and ideas every second day without any real consideration or consequences," he said.

"It is just feeding into prejudice and fear within the community."

The Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union condemned Ms Hanson's stance, saying it would risk jobs.

Labor MP Nick Champion couldn't understand why Ms Hanson would want to get stuck into Australian jobs in the run up to Easter, traditionally one of the busiest times for retailers.

"What we should be doing is buying Australian made Easter eggs, that is the only guide people should use," he told Sky News.

"You won't buy into this really stupid, counter-productive, silly campaign which is only being run to appeal to prejudice."
