Inmate on the run after NSW jail escape

A 45-year-old inmate has escaped from a prison near the regional NSW town of Albury, police say.

A prisoner is on the run after escaping from a minimum security jail in NSW's Riverina area.

Artur Wojik, 45, was last seen wearing prison greens at the Manus Correctional Centre, near Tumbarumba, about 5.30pm on Thursday, police say.

People are being urged not to approach Wojik but call police if they see him.
