MPs to examine ex-minister's conduct

Ex-Liberal minister Bruce Billson's conduct will be examined by a parliamentary committee after Labor raised concerns about his paid role with a lobby group.

A parliamentary committee will investigate whether former Liberal minister Bruce Billson acted inappropriately or in contempt while in government.

Mr Billson reportedly failed to disclose he was collecting a salary from the Franchise Council of Australia while still an MP in the lower house.

Labor frontbencher Tony Burke on Monday successfully referred the "serious" matter to the committee of privileges and members interests.
