No closure for MH370 families in report

Families of MH370 victims are disappointed a "final" report on the aviation mystery by Malaysian investigators was inconclusive.

An inconclusive "final" report into the disappearance of MH370 has left families with little closure four years after the flight vanished.

Some want the search to continue though no new information on the fate of the doomed flight has surfaced.

The Malaysia Airlines plane vanished from radar screens carrying 239 people, including six Australians, en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in March 2014.

The chief investigator, on Monday, told reporters his team was unable to determine what happened to the plane even after debris washed up on Africa's east coast.

He said they did not believe the pilot was behind the change in direction to the Indian Ocean, which had to have been done under manual control, and "unlawful interference by a third party" could not be ruled out.

Families were left devastated by the lack of closure or new information despite four years of searching the ocean's depths.

Danika Weeks, the widow of Australian victim Paul Weeks, said the search needs to continue.

"They can't just push it under the carpet and say 'that's it'," she said.

"They need to keep searching - that's a given."
