#PutoutyourHSPs: Dastyari honoured with snack pack hashtag

Social media has been quick to show solidarity for embattled Labor Senator Sam Dastyari by calling on people to put out their Halal snack packs.

A day after Sam Dastyari resigned from the Labor frontbench amid a dispute over donations he accepted from a company with links to the Chinese government, social media users have thrown their support behind him by asking others to put out their Halal snack packs.

The #putoutyourHSPs campaign started trending after Dastyari's resignation, resulting in countless images of the popular meal, which consists of chips, meat and sauce, on social media.

Dastyari's affiliation with snack packs surfaced following July's election when he invited One Nation leader Pauline Hanson to enjoy one with him.

An invitation which Hanson, whose party has been against Halal certification, rejected instantly.
