Police are investigating whether officers at a traffic enforcement site tried to intercept a car that crashed and killed two young children in southeast Queensland.
A four-year-old girl and six-year-old boy died instantly when a car slammed into tree and split in two at Peaks Crossing south of Ipswich at about 2.45pm on Monday.
An eight-year-old girl who was in the front passenger seat is in a stable condition in hospital.
The female driver in her 30s is in a critical but stable condition.
A police spokesman confirmed the Ethical Standards Command is investigating the involvement of officers at a nearby static traffic enforcement site.
He would not confirm media reports police had tried to intercept the car before it crashed.
