Slain homeless woman Courtney Herron will be laid to rest after her beaten body was found in a Melbourne park.

The 25-year-old will be farewelled on Monday by loved ones after her body was discovered by dog walkers in Royal Park, in the inner suburb of Melbourne, on May 25.

Ms Herron's funeral will be held at St Dimitrios Greek Orthodox Church in Moonee Ponds at 10.30am.

It will be followed by a burial at the Northern Memorial Park.

Her family has asked for donations to Front Yard Youth Services, in lieu of flowers.

Homeless man Henry Richard Hammond, 27, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court last week, charged with Ms Herron's murder.

A lawyer outlined a number of his mental health issues before his matter was adjourned to September 16.

Ms Herron had been couch surfing and sleeping rough for some time while struggling with drug and mental health problems.
