A Somali refugee who claimed she was raped on Nauru may face criminal charges for making a false complaint.

Nauru police have closed their investigation into the allegation, saying there was "insufficient evidence".

The tiny country's justice minister, David Adeang, said the 26 year-old woman may face charges of making a false complaint and he stands by the nation's police force "100 per cent".
