Stress fracture for Dockers' AFL ruck Lobb

Fremantle have suffered another AFL injury blow with ruckman Rory Lobb suffering a stress fracture in his foot that will sideline him for an extended period.

Fremantle ruckman Rory Lobb might miss the rest of the AFL season after being diagnosed with a stress fracture in his foot.

Just days after ruling out key defender Alex Pearce (ankle) for the remainder of the campaign, the Dockers revealed Lobb would miss "an extended period" after injuring his right foot in last week's win over Collingwood at the MCG.

The Dockers have not set a timeline for Lobb's return but the injury is notoriously slow to heal.

Lobb has played all 11 games for Fremantle this season after arriving from GWS during last year's trade period and has been in career-best form.

"The club is extremely disappointed for Rory," Dockers football boss Peter Bell said.

"Since returning to Fremantle, Rory has impressed everyone with his application and talent.

"Rory had been in excellent form in the ruck and, in the past two weeks, has produced outstanding games competing against Stefan Martin and Brodie Grundy."

Veteran ruckman Aaron Sandilands is also sidelined by a calf problem, but Sean Darcy (ankle) might return for next week's clash with Port Adelaide.

Bell on Sunday said the club would review its training and medical assessment protocols after a series of lower-leg and foot injuries to key talls.

Concerns have been raised by the WA clubs about the hardness of the Optus Stadium surface but that is not expected to be a focus of the review.

The Dockers have the bye this weekend and sit ninth on the ladder.
