Teen charged over Qld shooting threats

A teenager accused of making threats against a Brisbane school has been charged by police.

A teenager, who allegedly threatened a school shooting in Queensland, has been charged by police.

The threats, posted on two social media platforms, warned of a school shooting at an undisclosed school in the Moreton Bay suburb of North Lakes this week.

The teen allegedly responsible for the threats was charged on Tuesday with one count of using a carriage service to make a threat to cause serious harm, and threatening violence.

He will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act, police say.

No specific schools were named in the posts, which made reference to the recent shooting that killed 17 people at a school in Parkland, Florida.

Meanwhile, a Gold Coast school was briefly put into lockdown on Tuesday morning following a hoax threat.

AB Patterson College in the city's north enacted emergency protocols and turned parents away for about 10 minutes from 8.20am.

Police determined the threat was a hoax and the school was reopened.
