Ex-Test prop Shannon Boyd has revealed he has been kept in cotton wool at Gold Coast Titans training after enduring migraines "every day" since suffering concussion in an NRL clash last month.
But the Titans enforcer says he has no long term health fears, backing himself to make an impact off the bench in Saturday's clash with Manly.
Boyd said he had been restricted to light training duties since suffering serious headaches after copping a heavy knock in their round nine loss to Cronulla six weeks ago.
"I've had some migraine headaches from a concussion against Cronulla, headaches every day pretty much," Boyd said.
"So I have to keep the contact to a minimum during the week so I will be right for the weekends.
"I should be fine, it can't get any worse. It just prolongs the headaches if I keep doing contact."
After missing their round 10 loss to Canterbury, Boyd was cleared to return after undergoing tests that located his neck as the source of the head pain.
"I've just got to monitor it a bit. But we've looked into it (tests), it is starting to get better now," he said.
"My head is fine. It is more my neck when I had the hit, that is bringing the headaches on."
Boyd may be getting some relief from his headaches at training but admits there is little respite at home after welcoming his second child, a baby girl, last Thursday.
"Definitely. The sleep was not too good last night but she's been a pretty good little bub so far so happy days," he laughed.
With a tough assignment looming against the Sea Eagles' pack, Boyd expected plenty of assistance from Titans prop Jarrod Wallace who is aiming to retain his Queensland jersey after an underwhelming State of Origin II display on Sunday night.
"It's a big scoreline so I would say he (Wallace) would be coming out trying to prove a point, trying to get back into that team again," he said.
