Turkey ends Syrian military operation: PM

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim says the country's military operation in Syria "Euphrates Shield" has ended.

Turkey has now ended the "Euphrates Shield" military operation it began in Syria last August, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim says.

In an interview with broadcaster NTV, Yildirim said on Wednesday the operation had been successful, and he added that any further operations would be carried out under a different name.

Turkey launched its incursion into northern Syria over six months ago to push Islamic State fighters away from its border and stop the advance of Kurdish fighters.
