Two of three Victoria jail escapees caught

Only one of three men who escaped a minimum-security prison in regional Victoria is still at large after the other two were recaptured.

Two of the three men who escaped from the Beechworth minimum security prison in regional Victoria have been recaptured.

Geoffrey Pennell, 34, was arrested about 9.45pm on Saturday evening in Warrnambool after Tuesday's escape, police say.

Billy Sperling, 25, was arrested on Thursday night in Geelong, 350km south of Beechworth.

Thomas Smith, 27, remains at large.

Smith is serving time for traffic, property, drug and damage-related offences, and police say he may be travelling in a stolen blue 1988 Mercedes sedan, registration 1G13BT.
