14,000 new high level home care packages will be released to help ease a 105,000 wait list of older Australians needing help.

WHAT THE BUDGET MEANS FOR OLDER AUSTRALIANS

* 14,000 new high level home care packages will be released to help ease a 105,000 wait list of older Australians needing help

* This builds on the 6000 announced in the mid-year budget update

* 13,500 residential aged care places will also be opened up

* The My Aged Care website will be made easier to use and new simpler assessment forms created at a cost of $62 million

* A new Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission will be set up to act as a one- stop shop for complaints

* There's a $82.5 million boost for mental health services in aged care facilities
